Aquamarine
Aquamarine is a form of the mineral beryl and the impurities of iron and is very closely related to emeralds. Known as the sapphire of the sea, early Romans used this stone for protection over water. They also believed it would aid in digestion of food and reduce water retention and was used as a prescription for overeating. Fishermen believed that this beautiful pale green/ blue stone was the treasure of mermaids that would protect the waters and bring in a good catch. It is mostly found in Brazil but it has many other deposits around the world including Madagascar, Nigeria and Colorado/ USA.
A symbol of youth, hope, health and fidelity it is believed this stone can help one to be confident, give one strength and helps to calm a nervous tension. Aquamarine encourages one to be true and to make the most of the moment.
